Context Sources
Dropbox
Connect Dropbox when the Nomic agent needs files that are not already in a Nomic project, or when you want it to organize, share, or collect files in Dropbox.
What it can do
- Browse folders and search files by name or content.
- Read text from PDFs, Word documents, and other text files, convert documents to Markdown, and transcribe audio or video.
- Create folders and text files, and copy, move, rename, or delete files and folders.
- Create shared links and file requests, and review the ones you own.
- Review a file's revision history and restore earlier versions of files or folders.
Setup and security
- You sign in with your own Dropbox account. Nomic can reach only the files and folders that account can open, and Dropbox sharing permissions still apply.
- Tools that change data ask for approval before they run. The Approval column under Supported tools shows each tool's setting.
deletemoves items to Dropbox's deleted files rather than removing them permanently. You can restore them within your plan's recovery window.- Dropbox Sign and Dropbox Paper tools are not available in Nomic.
- Dropbox limits text extraction and new text files to 5 MB each.
- Add Dropbox from the marketplace. Its server cannot be added through Custom MCP.
- This server is separate from the Dropbox integration under Settings → Integrations, which syncs files into Nomic projects. Connecting one does not connect the other.
To connect, see Add an MCP server.
Example requests
- "Find the latest structural calculations for the Harbor project in my Dropbox and summarize the design loads."
- "Compare the door hardware schedule in Dropbox with the specifications in this project."
- "Move this week's site photos into the Oak Street
Field Reportsfolder." - "Create a file request so the electrical subcontractor can upload their O&M manuals to the closeout folder."
- "Share a view-only link to the issued-for-construction set with the owner's representative."
