Autodesk Forma

When an Autodesk Forma project is linked to a Nomic project, the Nomic agent automatically has access to all project files—drawings, specifications, submittals, and documentation. No manual file attachment required. Files sync as they're added or updated in Autodesk Forma. Autodesk Forma is a Business and Enterprise integration — Individual plan users upload files instead.

What the Nomic Agent Can Access​

The Nomic agent has access to:

  • Drawing sheets — Individual sheets from project drawings, when your admin has given Nomic's Autodesk service account the Build product. Without it, only Data Management files sync.
  • PDFs and documents — Specifications, submittals, and project documentation
  • Project metadata — Project structure and file organization

You only see files you have access to in Autodesk Forma: Nomic applies each folder's Autodesk permissions, matched to your Nomic account by email address. The Nomic project's member list is copied from Autodesk once, when the project is created, and doesn't follow later membership changes in Autodesk. Nomic re-syncs the project about every 5 minutes after the previous sync finishes, so new and updated files appear automatically and files deleted in Autodesk Forma are removed. Run Index Folder on the project folder once so the Nomic agent can search its contents — that request also covers files synced later.

What You Can Do​

With Autodesk Forma context, you can:

  • Ask project questions — "What's the wall thickness on Level 2?" or "Show me all fire rating requirements"
  • Check code compliance — Enable Codes Search to check drawings against building codes with cited requirements (Code Compliance)
  • Review submittals — Ask the Nomic agent to check a submittal against the synced specs and drawings, or run the Automated Submittal Review workflow for a repeatable version
  • Research across the project — Active Project Research lets you search and compare across all project data
  • Compare drawing versions — "What changed between revision 2 and revision 3?"

RFIs​

With the Autodesk Forma MCP server connected, the Nomic agent can read open RFIs and draft cited responses from project drawings, specifications, and documentation. With your approval, it can also create or update RFIs. To draft responses in a repeatable format, build a workflow.

Autodesk Forma MCP​

The Autodesk Forma MCP server lets the Nomic agent read issues, RFIs, and submittals on imported projects, and create or update issues and RFIs. It requires this integration.

Export drawing review findings​

When you run a Drawing Review on drawings from a linked Autodesk Forma project, you can push validated findings into Forma from the findings table.

  1. Accept finding on each row you want to track (findings start as New).
  2. Open ⋯ → Export to Autodesk.
  3. Choose:
    • Create Issue — Coordination, QA/QC, constructability, or code-related findings (default path for most items).
    • Create RFI — Formal clarification when design intent or documents need a written response.

After export, the finding is marked Exported in Nomic and you can open the Forma issue or RFI from the menu. Title, description, severity, discipline, and citation context are included; track resolution in Forma.
