Context Sources

Context sources bring external files, drawings, and specifications into Nomic so Assistant can search, reference, and reason over your actual work. You can upload files directly or — on Business and Enterprise — connect external document systems that sync automatically.

Individual plan: upload files. Live integrations are not available — see Plans.

For organizing and managing files once they're in Nomic, see Files and Projects.

Uploads

Uploads are the simplest context source. Drop files directly into a conversation for one-off questions, or upload to Files for persistent reuse. No setup required.

  • Best for — Quick questions about a specific document, ad hoc files that aren't in a connected integration

External Integrations

Live integrations (Autodesk Forma, Bentley, Fieldwire, SharePoint, Egnyte, Outlook, Gmail) are on Business and Enterprise. Admins connect them from Admin → Integrations.

Project Delivery (Autodesk Forma, Bentley, Fieldwire)

When your admin links or imports a project-delivery source into Nomic, Assistant can use that project context from the corresponding Nomic project. These sources are designed for drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documentation.

  • Project connection — Admins choose which external projects become Nomic projects
  • Project-scoped — Assistant knows which files belong to which project
  • Best for — Active project research, code compliance, submittal reviews, drawing review export to ACC/Fieldwire, and RFI automation

File Storage (SharePoint, Egnyte)

SharePoint and Egnyte connect to your document management system. Your admin selects which sites or folders to sync. Assistant can search across firm standards, past projects, and historical documentation.

  • Admin-selected sync — Admins choose which sites or folders to bring into Nomic
  • Firm-wide or project-scoped — Synced folders can be attached to projects or workflows to associate them with specific work
  • Best for — Research across past projects, firm standards, and historical documentation

Project communications (Outlook, Gmail)

Outlook and Gmail are Business and Enterprise integrations. Admins connect them so Assistant can work from project email — drafting replies, triaging threads, and starting workflows. There is no live email integration on the Individual plan.
