Atlas Analyst
The Atlas Analyst is a data agent for running analytics over your data. It automatically reasons through how to provide explainable answers to questions about your data using powerful tools like vector search and semantic filters.
When running an Advanced Analysis using the Analyst, you are given a view of the data that answers your question with full explainability and guides your data exploration.

The Atlas Analyst Workflow
The Atlas Analyst lets you explore your data and take immediate action with the following workflow:
- Choose a question - Select from auto-generated suggested questions that appear when your map loads, or type your own custom question in natural language (e.g., "What themes are in common between all the negative reviews of our mobile app?") in the Atlas search bar. Note that asking custom questions may be limited by your account type - see our pricing page for details.
- The Atlas Analyst will plan and reason through an analysis - using highly explainable tools like vector search and semantic filters in real-time over your dataset to select data relevant to your question
- Get an explainable answer - Get a written response grounded by your dataset that answers your question
- Take action Continue curating, filtering, and transforming your data from where the Atlas Analyst left off
Unlike traditional tools that simply read data and provide answers, this approach allows you to not only get answers but also understand the context, explore further, and take immediate action based on your discoveries.
Key Benefits
Faster insights to action: Get answers to complex questions in seconds and immediately act on those insights rather than spending time manually exploring your data.
Action-ready results: Continue exploring from where the Atlas Analyst left off, with all the relevant filters and views already applied. You can even create Data Stories from your discoveries to share with your team and drive collaborative action.
Learning Atlas by example: See how an expert would use Atlas map controls to answer your specific questions and take effective action with your data.
Tips for Effective Questions
To get the most out of the Atlas Analyst, consider these tips for formulating your questions:
Be specific about what you're looking for: "What are common themes in customer complaints about shipping?" works better than "shipping issues"
Ask about topics in your data: The Atlas Analyst can help you understand the topic modeling in your data map. Mention the topics you care most about in your question!
Availability and Usage Limits
Available to all Atlas users: Works with both new and existing data maps. Access the Atlas Analyst from any data map in your Atlas dashboard.
Usage limits: A fixed number of advanced analysis queries per organization per month (see pricing page).
Current Limitations
Spatial Awareness: The Atlas Analyst cannot interpret visual patterns, clusters, or outliers in the map layout. Visual analysis still requires human assessment.
Selection Capacity: The analyst composes searches and filters to create one selection for an analysis, which may limit its ability to compare and contrast between different cohorts or data segments.
Domain Knowledge: Highly specialized queries may require additional context from the user.
Verification Needed: Users should independently verify critical insights derived from the Atlas Analyst.
