Connect file storage integrations

File storage integrations connect Nomic to systems such as SharePoint and Egnyte. They are best for shared reference folders, project folders, standards libraries, and other file collections your team already manages outside Nomic.

Before you start

Decide:

  • Which folders should be visible in Nomic
  • Who should have access to those folders
  • Whether users need personal account connections
  • Which folders should be indexed immediately
  • Which folders should only sync metadata until needed

Start narrow. It is easier to add more folders later than to clean up a broad sync that included too much.

  1. Connect the integration from Admin -> Integrations.
  2. Authorize with the account your team has approved for crawling or syncing.
  3. Select a small, useful folder first.
  4. Confirm the folder appears in Nomic.
  5. Confirm permissions with two users who have different source-system access.
  6. Index the files users need for the first workflow or training session.
  7. Add larger folders after the first test succeeds.

Permission checks

Nomic follows the source system's permissions. A user who cannot open a folder in SharePoint or Egnyte should not expect to see that folder in Nomic.

For an early test, choose:

  • One shared folder that several users can see
  • One restricted folder that only a smaller group can see

Ask both groups to confirm what they can and cannot see in Nomic.

Folder selection tips

  • Prefer project, discipline, or standards folders over a root drive.
  • Avoid syncing personal or administrative folders unless they are intentionally in scope.
  • Keep training data small and representative.
  • Use projects to give users a clean place to work with the synced files.
