Troubleshoot workflow save and builder issues

The workflow builder is the most-edited surface in Nomic, so it gets the most reports. Most issues resolve with a short reset; a few need our attention.

"My changes didn't save"

  1. Don't close the tab yet. Copy any new instructions to a scratch file as a backup.
  2. Hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R / Ctrl+Shift+R). If the builder loads with your changes, great — re-save to lock them in.
  3. Check connectivity. A dropped connection can cause the save spinner to hang. If you're on a VPN or restricted network, try a different network briefly to confirm.
  4. Open the workflow's version history (top-right of the builder). If your last edit appears there with a timestamp, it saved — the editor just didn't refresh.

If none of the above show your changes, file a bug with the workflow name and the time you tried to save.

Prompts or context disappeared mid-edit

This is almost always a stale editor caused by another tab editing the same workflow.

  • Close any other tabs with the same workflow open.
  • Refresh, then re-add the missing prompt or context.
  • Re-save.

If you removed a context file but it still shows up on runs, hard-refresh and re-save — the run cache is invalidated on save.

"Builder is unresponsive"

  • Reload the page once.
  • Try in an Incognito / private window to rule out a stale extension or session.
  • Try a different browser (we test most heavily on Chrome and Edge).

If the builder loads but interactions don't register, capture a short screen recording before reloading — that's the most useful thing for our engineers to debug from.

When to escalate

Send Nomic Support:

  • The workflow name and URL.
  • Approximate time (with timezone) you tried to save.
  • Browser + OS.
  • Screenshot or screen recording of the broken state.
