Connect Autodesk Forma

The Autodesk Forma integration lets Nomic see the same docs your team is already working in — without re-uploading anything. Setup happens once at the admin level; then anyone with project access can link individual Autodesk Forma projects to Nomic projects.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • An Autodesk Forma account with Account Admin rights on the hub you want to connect.
  • The email used in Autodesk Forma to match the Nomic admin's email (recommended — keeps sync attribution clean).
  • 10-15 minutes for the initial sync of a typical project.

Step 1: Authorize Nomic at the Autodesk Forma hub level

  1. In Nomic, go to Admin → Integrations → Autodesk Forma.
  2. Click Connect and complete the Autodesk OAuth flow.
  3. Approve the requested scopes — Nomic reads files, folders, and metadata; it never writes to Autodesk Forma.
  1. Open the Nomic project you want to link.
  2. Click Add filesConnect from Autodesk Forma.
  3. Pick the Autodesk Forma project. Optionally restrict to a subset of folders (recommended for very large projects).
  4. Click Sync.

Nomic begins crawling the selected folders. Files may appear before every file is fully searchable. Large sets stream in over minutes as sync and indexing finish.

What syncs

  • Files in selected folders.
  • File metadata (uploader, date, version).
  • Folder structure — Nomic mirrors what you see in Autodesk Forma.

Permissions in Autodesk Forma are respected: if a user can't see a folder in Autodesk Forma, they can't see it in Nomic.

Syncing and indexing are related but different. Syncing makes Autodesk Forma files visible in Nomic. Indexing makes their contents searchable by Assistant and workflows.

Common issues

  • "No projects appear after authorization." You authorized at the user level instead of the account level. Repeat Step 1 as an Account Admin.
  • "Files appear empty / unsearchable." Initial sync or indexing is not finished. Give large projects 15-30 minutes; check Admin → Integrations → Autodesk Forma for the sync status.
  • "Sync stopped after a few days." The Autodesk Forma service-account token may have rotated. Reconnect under Admin → Integrations → Autodesk Forma.
